Most telematics apps treat a clutch like an automatic. GEARI infers gear from the speed–RPM ratio, times the shift window, and scores how cleanly you complete it.

GEARI does not need a US-only OBD-II stack. The 16-pin port under the dash is the same in Brazil, Japan, India, and Thailand. The law has another name — OBDBr, EOBD, JOBD, KOBD, China 6, BS-VI. The app reads RPM, speed, and load from that port, then infers every gear.

Bluetooth Low Energy dongle. iPhone needs BLE or MFi. Android accepts BLE or Classic. Cheap Classic clones will not pair on iOS.
GEARI auto-detects CAN, KWP2000, or K-line. A ten-second smoke test asks for RPM and speed. Both streaming means ECU mode is on.
No live PIDs? Phone GPS + IMU still scores lane and brake. The public rating shows a sensor badge, not a fake ECU score.
Pins 6 and 14 carry CAN on most 2008+ / OBDBr-2 / China 6 / BS-VI cars. Older Asia and Europe use the K-line on pin 7. GEARI only needs legislated Mode 01 PIDs — not dealer coding.

Brazil OBDBr-2 / 2+ (ISO 15031, flex-fuel). Argentina and Chile follow EOBD-style ports on later cars. Mexico ~2007. Probe older Andean fleets — the hole can exist without live data.
JOBD (Japan), KOBD (Korea), GB 18352 China 6, India BS-VI, Thailand and Philippines Euro 4 EOBD. JDM cars can be picky with clone dongles. Export models are usually easier.
RPM, vehicle speed, throttle, calculated load, MAP or MAF. Enough to time a shift and grade jerk. Not fuel trim — ethanol flex cars swing those numbers.
Vgate iCar Pro BLE, Veepeak BLE+, OBDLink MX+ / CX. Avoid unlabeled ELM “v2.1” clones on Mercado Libre, Shopee, and Lazada for daily scoring.

A 16-pin hole is not a promise. Newest 2020s platforms may use CAN-FD or DoIP — v1 stays on classic CAN / K-line and phone fallback. EVs are out of scope.

Set work or any destination and a desired arrival. GEARI builds a time-to-reach that assumes legal speeds and calm inputs — not the fastest possible route. The trip score includes whether you kept that promise.
Buffer built in for lights, grade, and measured shifting. Aggressive routing is off by default.
